Dear McKinley Parents, Guardians, and Students, 

 

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at McKinley Elementary! I can’t wait to hear from the students about their summer! For our returning families, I look forward to seeing you all and continuing to serve you, your children and the Bellwood community as the Acting Principal. For families that are new to McKinley Elementary, I am excited to meet you and your child, and know that we are here to help your child transition smoothly into McKinley. The staff and school community are all committed to providing the best educational experience possible. Please let us know how we can help! 

 

I am happy to announce to you all our new Acting Assistant Principal, Mr. Cedric Lega. Mr. Lega is not new to Bellwood School District #88. Mr. Lega is coming from Roosevelt Middle School where he taught 8th grade Math. He has also previously taught at Lincoln Elementary. Mr. Lega has served the Bellwood community for many years. Mr. Lega and his family live within the Bellwood community and he is excited to meet all of you! Mr. Lega is eager to work with the entire school community to support the academic and social growth of each of our McKinley students. I have had the pleasure to work with Mr. Lega at both Lincoln Elementary and Roosevelt Middle School and now in the Administrative capacity at McKinley Elementary.

 

We can not do the work without you, parent involvement has many benefits for a child’s success. Your partnership in educating your child is vital. Evening routines with homework, supporting learning at home, and joining the PTO to support the school are ways to stay connected and build the school-home-community relationship.

McKinley teachers and staff are eagerly awaiting the return of students on Monday, August 21, 2023. This will also be an Early Release day and students will be dismissed at 11:30.
