Happy Black History Month!

Black history is living history—honored in our classrooms and celebrated in and around our community through shared stories, cultural moments, and traditions that bring generations together. These celebrations remind us that history is not only remembered, but lived, taught, and carried forward.

At Bellwood School District 88, this understanding strengthens our purpose: to inspire students to achieve excellence and make meaningful contributions to the world around them. When students know the legacy they stand on and see themselves reflected in their learning, they are empowered to shape a future grounded in knowledge, belonging, and possibility.

We invite families, staff, and community members to join the Village of Bellwood on February 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Roosevelt Middle School as we celebrate together. The afternoon will feature food, performances, and community connection, and we hope to see you there as we honor history and build forward—together.
